About IONWAY
The Global EHS Program Manager (Compliance) is responsible for designing, preparing, implementing, and delivering Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across the IONWAY portfolio. This role includes executing EHS compliance programs, desgining and leading internal and third-party audits, and supporting the development of corporate EHS strategy based on audit findings. The position requires close collaboration with local EHS teams, external authorities, auditors, collaboration with Umicore and internal stakeholders such as all levels of employee, global functions of IONWAY and plant level departments, etc.
Responsibilities
Program Delivery & Implementation
• Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, projects and procedures, including (but not limited to) EHS compliance program and other initiatives.
• Manage Level 2 SPDD processes for EHS and support the plant in implementing Level 3.
• Direct and execute EHS compliance initiatives, drive/conduct internal and third-party audits, and design/lead IONWAY conformance review processes.
• Track the progress of CAPA (Corrective Actions & Preventive Actions) management processes and advise/lead the improvement of the processes.
• Ensure effective implementation compliance follow up tools and SEVESO regulations.
• Support the other program managers and EHS team members for analyzing audit findings and recommend corrective actions and program enhancements.
• Support EHS requirements in Due Diligence processes (including new plants or credits) and coordinate follow-up actions with all stakeholders (internal, external, Umicore, etc.).
• Contribute to corporate EHS strategy based on audit results and overall program outcomes.
• Develop and control budgets for related programs and initiatives.
• Own the EHS programs and their projects to foster best in class EHS initiatives at entire IONWAY.
• Guide/support local teams in overcoming implementation challenges and improving program performance.
• Partner with all levels of employees, global and local EHS teams, global functions, Umicore, and external stakeholders to secure alignment with national and European EHS regulations and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain documentation, training resources, and implementation tools for EHS programs.
• Deliver EHS training and prepare communications materials, and communicate the EHS messages internally and externally.
Support on Other EHS Programs and Initiatives
• Support development and rollout of EHS programs, including (but not limited to) Process Safety, REACH/CLP, Environmental Protection, etc.
• Strengthen communication with stakeholders and ensure prompt follow-up on program implementation and resulting actions.
Compliance
• Align EHS programs and processes with IONWAY’s values, management systems, and legal requirements.
• Establish and champion best practices in EHS in line with Ionway Management System and company needs, increasing awareness and foster embeded EHS culture within the organization.
Cross-functional Support
• Launch and lead the organization's EHS compliance program within the functions and plants.
• Address the expectations of other functions from EHS, including (but not limited to) Production/Operations, P&O, Supply Chain, Asset Management, Quality & Operational Excellence, Legal & Compliance.
• Champion initiatives related to other functions, or EHS-related activities within these areas, such as sustainability, mental well-being, 6S, supplier management, and TPM.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Maintain proactive communication with all stakeholders and ensure thorough follow-up to integrate EHS into business operations.
• Promote environmental awareness and integration to support IONWAY’s sustainability efforts and principles across the organization.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Protection, Environmental Engineering or other related degrees.
• 10+ years of EHS and compliance experience, preferably in chemical, automotive, heavy industry, or other highly regulated sectors.
• Proven project/program management experience in environmental compliance, including audits and licensing; international project management certification is an asset.
• Proven experience in project/program management and conducting compliance audits.
• Expertise in management systems (ISO 45001, 14001), REACH/CLP, Seveso directive; familiarity with FM/UL, NFPA, ESG regulations (CSRD, CSDDD, etc.).
• International EHS certifications (e.g., NEBOSH IGC OHS, Environment, etc.), Lead Auditor certifications in EHS standards (ISO 45001, 14001).
• Demonstrated superior influencing leadership across employee levels, strong stakeholder engagement, and ability to embed compliance checks and supportive coaching approaches.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and analytical skills with a strong continuous improvement mindset.
• Fluent in English (C1/C2) and Polish (B2/C1).
